Truth in China
Wednesday June 4, 2008
New York is an experimental site for the CCP's global campaignThe Epoch Times Jun 03, 2008 Zhou Yongkang, a member of the Politburo Standing Committee of the Central Committee and secretary of the Central Political and Legislative Committee of the CCP. (Daniel Velez/AFP/Getty Images) CCP spies disguised themselves as Falun Gong practitioners to spread false rumors against Falun Gong during a rally in support of more than 37 million people who have publicly withdrawn from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its affiliated organizations, in Flushing, New York City on May 31. Wearing Falun Gong yellow T-shirts, and claiming to "clarify the truth" to local Chinese on Flushing streets, they told people at the site of the rally that, "the Sichuan earthquake is retribution to Chinese people," and "Chinese people died in the earthquake because of karma." These individuals attempted to breed hatred among Chinese people who do not know the truth. These impostors acting as Falun Gong practitioners have been doing so for the past two weeks. They even held banners declaring, "Heaven will destroy China" to incite hatred among Chinese people. As soon as real Falun Gong practitioners identified them, they immediately ran away. Under the Direction of Zhou YongkangZhou Yongkang, secretary of the Central Political and Legislative Committee of the CCP uses a network of spies, both in mainland China and overseas, employing groups such as the Association of Chinese Students and Scholars, and other overseas Chinese associations to extensively spread fabricated rumors among overseas Chinese students through e-mail and CCP controlled media. These CCP spies claim to be students, overseas Chinese immigrants, so-called Falun Gong sympathizers, as well as "Falun Gong practitioners." Their mission is to spread propaganda to tarnish the image of Falun Gong, such as claiming that the organization doesn't donate to earthquake relief and stating that the recent earthquake was caused by karma. Moreover, CCP spies also send messages under Falun Gong practitioners' names on the Internet, or imitate Falun Gong sympathizers to spread rumors among the Chinese community. "(We) sympathised with Falun Gong in the past, but due to their recent behaviour we no longer support them," these spies say in unison. The internal spy training conducted by the CCP has said that this tactic is most effective. They claim it will divert the attention of Falun Gong practitioners, while easily confusing everyday people. Some spies claiming to be Falun Gong practitioners send e-mails to spread false statements made by The Epoch Times newspaper. They play on the patriotism of the Chinese to spread rumors about the Olympics, the recent earthquake and Tibetan issues. This vast campaign of disinformation has served to ignite hatred among mainland Chinese and oversea Chinese against Falun Gong and The Epoch Times. Pretending to be SympathizersAn individual from Shanghai who attended training sessions set up by the Chinese communist spy system disclosed the methods he learned to defame Falun Gong practitioners. "Pretending to be a sympathizer is very effective, so high level leaders request that we all use this method to spread rumors about Falun Gong among Chinese student associations, online chat rooms, various overseas Chinese associations, and in mainland Chinese society," he said. "Actually it's very easy to identify these impostors, because this group of people don't understand Falun Gong at all. They all speak according to the spy training they received, so the words they use are basically the same." This spy movement organized by Zhou Yongkang uses nearly identical methods both inside and outside of China. These spies almost use the same words and cite similar topics. They say that "Falun Gong will bring death to China and are not patriotic." Most of these CCP trained individuals claim that they were once very sympathetic to Falun Gong practitioners, but because The Epoch Times reports about the upcoming Olympics and Tibetan issues hurt the feelings of Chinese people, they no longer support Falun Gong." Spreading the Method OverseasThis movement to defame Falun Gong using fabricated stories was focused in New York, yet arrangements to further this campaign of deception have quickly moved to other states. In fact, in regions and cities around the world that have Chinese consulates or embassies—Japan, France, the U.K. and Canada—similar arrangements are now underway. Even in China, CCP spies have extensively spread rumors to defame Falun Gong among all levels of Chinese society, including internet chat rooms, blogs, as well as public and private gatherings. Since the majority of these people all pretend to be Falun Gong practitioners, or former Falun Gong sympathizers, their words can easily confuse people. According to officials within the Chinese communist regime, the movement in New York City is merely a test site for a global campaign. If this trial proves successful, it will immediately spread the tactic to all the cities and countries where Chinese people live, following the same method currently being used in New York. Intelligence systems in Japan, Canada, France and the U.K. have obtained the information about these arrangements made by the Chinese regime, including its coordinating with local media to defame Falun Gong. Several countries are paying close attention to how the U.S. government handles the Flushing incident, and how the campaign of deception develops at this New York experimental site. In the last two weeks, the CCP organized mobs of people to shout insults, besiege, and even physically attack Falun Gong practitioners who work for the service center for quitting the CCP. Peng Keyu, the Chinese consular general in NYC admitted in a phone call that he orchestrated this vicious incident to incite hatred among Chinese people—an incident that has been still not resolved.

'Quit CCP' Center president wants to help Consul General Peng 'step away' from Communist PartyBy John Nania Epoch Times Staff Jun 03, 2008 David Gao at the "Quit the CCP" rally in Flushing, May 31 (John Nania/The Epoch Times) FLUSHING, New York City?David Gao says that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has seized on the recent Sichuan earthquake opportunistically. Violence has been directed against Falun Gong practitioners on the streets of Flushing the past two weeks. The CCP, he says, is "using this as an opportunity to persecute people." "The whole thing [in Flushing] is because the CCP tried to direct people's attention away from the earthquake disaster. They are inciting hatred against Falun Gong with lies." Yet the earthquake has stirred the feelings of more people in China against the Party. As president of the Global Service Center to Quit the CCP, Gao says, "Since the earthquake, we have received thousands and thousands of statements of quitting the Party from the disaster area." He said that many people in their statements are asking why the CCP did not report the predictions of the earthquake. They are also reacting strongly to the collapsed school buildings in Sichuan. There were many cases of school buildings having collapsed while adjoining buildings held up under the earthquake. People who live near the school building said there were "no steel frames in the school buildings, only thin wires. For these 'Jell-o buildings,' who was responsible?" Gao asked. "We give the earthquake victims a platform to speak. We support them at the spiritual and emotional level." Gao spoke at Saturday's rally, and like other speakers, he dismissed the allegation that Falun Gong practitioners are somehow blocking earthquake relief donations. Indeed, they are trying to help victims. "Falun Gong practitioners, dissidents, and others were arrested when trying to arrange relief donations in Guizhou, my home province," he said. The Global Service Center to Quit the CCP has been receiving the resignation statements of CCP members in Flushing since 2005. About the Center's mission, Gao says, "We are helping people to step into a real awakening. We have no interest in political power; we only care about how many people can step out of the shadow and the control of the CCP. "The CCP has died in the hearts of the people. Even high-level officials in the government, military, and Party no longer acknowledge the CCP." Events at the May 17 rally, where violent protesters first assaulted Falun Gong practitioners in Flushing, surprised Gao. "They were well-organized and well-orchestrated, all chanting the same slogans." The rally participants, mostly Falun Gong practitioners, observed three minutes of silence for the earthquake victims. Yet, says Gao, the mob was yelling, "Long live the CCP" during the silence, and ignored the host who, with tears in her eyes, asked for silence. Gao says the Center is "calling for all Chinese people to quit the CCP, including Party officials, government, military, and consular officials." Speaking about the Consul General in New York, Peng Keyu, who was recorded admitting that he encouraged the mob to pick a fight with Falun Gong practitioners, Gao had a message. "I am worried about him because he leaked the secret" of what the CCP is doing in the United States. "We want to help him step away, like Chen Yonglin," he said, referring to the consular official who defected from the CCP in Australia in 2005. By Minghui reporter Zhou Rong and Shen Rong(Clearwisdom.net) On May 24, 2008, more than 2000 Falun Gong practitioners from all over the world held a parade in Chinatown, Manhattan, NY. The parade displayed the beauty of Falun Gong and exposed the evil nature of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). It passed on the information that more than 37 million Chinese quit the CCP. Parade in Chinatown, Manhattan The book Zhuan Falun has been translated into 25 languages. "Stop the persecution of Falun Gong when China is suffering from the natural disaster." Parade in Manhattan Condemning the fact that the CCP is using the earthquake as a chance to enhance the persecution of Falun Gong "The CCP chose not to publicize earthquake warnings; Thousands of Chinese died because of it." Welcoming Falun Gong Reading Falun Gong materials Signing petition to condemn the persecution The Divine Land Marching Band led the parade. Practitioners displayed giant models of the book Zhuan Falun, and large banners reading "Falun Dafa," and "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance." They held display boards which show the spread of Falun Dafa in the world, and photos of those tortured to death by the CCP. Practitioners also carried banners asking: "Have you thought about why the belief in 'truthfulness-compassion-forbearance' is being persecuted?" and "Why doesn't CCP stop the persecution when China is suffering from a natural disaster?" Practitioners also passed on information explaining how 37 million have quit the CCP. Mr. Li, a Chinese visitor from Shenyang, was amazed by the parade. He took videos of the parade. When he saw the displaying board of "Falun Dafa in Shenyang," he was excited. "My home is close to this exercise site," he shouted. Mr. Li took a lot of footage. He was shocked when he saw the photo of Gao Rongrong, who was beaten by the electric batons and eventually was tortured to death during the persecution. Mr. Li also took a lot of footage of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party and information about quitting the party. He said that he would show the video to his family and friends in China. Lili, a Chinese artist who witnessed the violent attacks against Falun Gong in Flushing, came to Manhattan to support Falun Gong. She said: "I didn't know much about Falun Gong, but when I saw the CCP took the violent way to attack Falun Gong in Flushing, I knew that the persecution it faces in China must be much worse." Lili said she kept applauding for Falun Gong during the parade. She expressed that Chinese people must stand up to expose the CCP's violence in America. Some Chinese people quit the party on the spot. Mr. Ye, a restaurant worker, reads the Epoch Times newspaper. He wanted to know more about Falun Gong. He condemned the persecution, and signed his name to support Falun Gong. He also quit the Communist Youth troupe. To let more people know about Falun Gong, practitioners will continue to peacefully clarify the truth. Practitioners want to awaken people's conscience so that the persecution will end as soon as possible. By Ke Tianming
(Clearwisdom.net) Disasters happening on Chinese soil have brought great suffering and pain to the Chinese people, but each time the Chinese Communist Party has turned the people's mourning into a celebration of the CCP through its propaganda. Each time the people endure suffering, the Party uses the opportunity to enhance its false image of being "great, honorable, and correct" through its "rescue efforts." When the earthquake happened in Wenchuan, Sichuan Province, the Party's rescue efforts weren't sincere. Instead, it squandered its energy trying to whitewash itself. However, their deceitful propaganda failed to conceal its inhuman nature, which was exposed through its dealings over this quake.
Earthquake Predictions Suppressed to Save the Image of the Olympic Games Host
Before the quake in Wenchuan, it was not that professionals and others didn't forecast it. The forecasts were, in fact, suppressed and concealed by the CCP in order to maintain its so-called "stable" and "harmonious" image. Two years ago, several professional earthquake researchers predicted that there would be a great earthquake in west Sichuan in 2008. There were also non-professionals who predicted the quake before it happened. But those predictions were concealed and suppressed. Looking back, when the catastrophic Tangshan Earthquake occurred 32 years ago, many professionals and non-professionals reported to the central government about a possible quake six months to several hours before it happened, according to facts revealed in recent years. The government suppressed the news in the name of politics, resulting in the deaths of several hundred thousand people. This time, the CCP played the same old trick, concealing prediction reports and disregarding human lives and resulting in the deaths of and injury to many people.
Earthquake Predictions Quashed as Rumor
One week before the earthquake, rumors in the Aba Area in Sichuan Province predicted an earthquake. But when the local residents inquired about it, they were assured the rumors were false. The authorities started an investigation of the so-called "earthquake rumor," and on May 9, 2008, the Sichuan Government published an announcement "discounting the earthquake rumor" on its website, declaring that there would be no earthquake in the area. But three days later, the earthquake occurred. The residents had lost the chance to prepare and save themselves.
Human Lives Disregarded and Best Rescue Chances Lost
After an earthquake occurs, the first 72 hours--and especially the first 24 hours--is the prime rescue period. But the CCP didn't send rescue teams and relief immediately to the epicenter of the quake, even though propaganda of its timely efforts to rescue the victims was quickly broadcast. The prime rescue period was missed and many lives were lost. According to information gathered, a tourist guide, tourists from Taiwan, and a middle-aged woman from Sichuan walked out of the epicenter and reached the safe area beyond Dujiangyan in less than 10 hours. The government blamed bad climate, aftershocks, and road congestion as the cause for its delayed rescue efforts, but how could a well-trained army not be able to move as well as ordinary civilians? The CCP's rescue efforts are merely a show.
Entry of International Rescue Teams Denied
The CCP used "congested traffic" and "inconvenient conditions" as excuses for denying the entry of professional rescue teams in the early stages. After the earthquake occurred, Taiwan and many other countries abroad immediately offered their professional rescue teams to help with the rescue efforts in China. These professional teams could have played a great role in saving many lives if they had been allowed to enter the country immediately. But the government was afraid that the image of the Party and its military as "the great savior" would be reduced if these professional teams from abroad saved a lot of people trapped under collapsed buildings. It therefore put forth different excuses such as "military base" and "there is no need" to refuse to let the professional rescue teams from abroad enter China. Several days later, after many people had lost their chance to be saved, the government reluctantly accepted help from certain countries.
Tightening Internet and Media Censorship and Defaming Falun Gong
After the earthquake, the government didn't try its best to provide disaster relief. Instead, it spent much of its efforts on Internet and media censorship and badmouthing those it considers its enemies. Several hours after the quake, the Party gathered its several hundred thousand commentators on the Internet (who are paid with the people's hard-earned money) to muzzle public opinion and defame Falun Gong.
Suppressing Instead of Saving People
The CCP seems to be actively rescuing the victims, creating a good image, but it has been secretly arresting citizens who dare to speak out about the truth of the disaster and those who advocate human rights. Some people who managed to escape from the epicenter area brought out the real news of the tragedy there, but they were arrested for "spreading rumors." Even as rescue efforts were urgently needed, the Party still ordered some people to focus on arresting those who were fighting for the human rights of the people in China.
Engaging in Brainwashing Propaganda, Bungling Rescue Chances
When the government's propaganda media reported on the earthquake disaster, it did not focus on the conditions of the disaster or the needs of the people who were suffering. It mainly focused on creating a flattering image of its leader and its army. As a result, many places didn't get any help for several days. Many lives were endangered because the serious conditions in the affected area were not made known to the outside world to encourage a more timely rescue effort.
Shoddy Construction Resulted in the Deaths of Many Children
During the earthquake, most of the school buildings, new and old, collapsed, killing many children. But very few Party officials were killed because hardly any government office building collapsed. Over ten years ago, there was a fire disaster in Kelayima. The CCP's order to "let the leaders go first" resulted in several hundred children being burned or suffocated to death, but all the leaders escaped. Today, the government leaders are still living and working in luxurious buildings built with the people's hard-earned money, while the children are still in poorly constructed, dangerous buildings.
The Party's only motive is to maintain its ruling position, and it does this through deceit and violence. The government seems to be responding actively to rescue earthquake victims as it busily constructs its noble image through the use of propaganda. But this mask is a flimsy one, and the Party's disregard for human life will be thoroughly exposed.

Human rights organization records conversation in which official discusses his roleBy Shaoshao Chen Epoch Times Staff May 24, 2008 Chinese Consul General admitted in a phone conversation with a WOIPFLG investigator that the Consul was involved in the hate crimes against Falun Gong practitioners in Flushing. (Epoch Times file photo) A top official from the New York Chinese Consulate admitted in a report on Friday to the consulate's involvement in instigating a series of attacks that started on May 17 in Flushing, New York. In a recorded conversation between investigators from the World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (WOIPFG) Chinese Consulate General Peng Keyu admitted to "encouraging" the violent attacks on members of the Service Center for Quitting the CCP. This organization, largely composed of Falun Gong practitioners, regularly mans a booth in Flushing for peacefully promoting the withdrawal of Chinese citizens from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Earlier eyewitness accounts during the attacks raised suspicions of the Chinese consulate's involvement. One witness recalls hearing a man involved in the attacks talking on a cell phone saying, "Bring more people over here. Each person will be paid 90 dollars." According to a New York City police officer on the scene who did not want to be identified, on Tuesday there were 500 Chinese protesters. "They were hiding behind the buildings and stores and throwing things at the Falun Gong people," said the police officer. New York Chinese Consulate General Peng Keyu admits to orchestrating the hate crimes and violent assaults against Falun Gong practitioners in Flushing (in Chinese) Download the recorded conversation (Chinese) See the English translation of the transcript here. A WOIPFG investigator called Peng early Wednesday morning commenting on the "huge scene in fighting Falun Gong" in Flushing and asked how the consulate was involved in the mobilization of a crowd of hundreds in a short period of time. The investigator remains unnamed, and WOIPFG has cited concerns for the investigator's safety in explaining the anonymity. In the conversation, Peng implied he was well-connected and influential in the Flushing Chinese community. Peng replied that the Chinese consulate "had to be very careful with this kind of [event]" to avoid raising suspicion and stated that he arrived in Flushing during the days of the attack and took part in organizing the protesters. However, Peng admits apprehension over being discovered so he "encouraged [the protesters] secretly" to avoid raising public suspicion of the consulate's involvement. A few hundred people were ordered to surround the members of the service center and were encouraged to start an argument, said Peng. "I went there the day before yesterday, and also three days ago," said Peng. "I usually park my car far from the scene because I must avoid being seen by [Falun Gong practitioners]." During the first days of the attacks in Flushing, protesters supporting the CCP surrounded members of the service center. Photos from the events show protesters violently grabbing and verbally assaulting members of the service center. Police barricades later blocked off both sides. "They [the protesters] came over after they fought with Falun Gong [practitioners] and I shook hands with them one by one and thanked them," says Peng. The disturbances in Flushing have also drawn the attention of Chinese state-run media who flooded the airwaves with reports and video of the attack. According to Xinhua News , a state-run television station, Falun Gong practitioners allegedly disrupted a donation center for victims of a massive 7.9 earthquake that struck Sichuan province on May 12. However, still images taken from video in the reports failed to show signs of a donation center but instead revealed members of the Service Center for Quitting the CCP holding banners calling for the end of the ruling Chinese communist regime, a monthly undertaking by New York locals. When interviewed by the Chinese media, the protesters denied being paid or organized and repeatedly said, "we came here from our heart." "I came here to support my brothers and sisters, [to] support our country [of China], because I'm not afraid," a Chinese lady shouted to a camera that was pointed at her. "I'm not afraid because I'm Chinese." Heavily reporting on politically sensitive issues is not uncommon for Chinese state-run media and Peng admits to instructing the Chinese media to report on the events in Flushing. Calls to the Chinese Consulate in New York asking for comment on this story were not returned.
