Completely enthralled by the Chinese Spectacular

International Art Exchange Association supervisor: Supreme

Huang Shu-chuan, supervisor of Guanyin Mountain International Art Exchange Association, Kaohsing County, is a renowned Chinese painter. After seeing the Spectacular, she said it touched her inner heart and was, “Supreme.” She said it was hard to describe just how moved she was.

The Art Exchange Association is involved in many art and cultural events. Ms. Huang has seen many performances, but she said she had never seen a performance as splendid as the Chinese Spectacular.

She said, “Their dancing, the backdrops, and their skills are really excellent. They are outstanding. The way the backdrops were integrated into the dances was excellent. The ‘Drummers of Tang Court’ was really moving.”

Dances like ‘Descent of the Celestial Kings,’ ‘Nymphs of the Sea,’ and ‘Water Sleeves’ are rarely seen. They are really outstanding; it defies human language to describe them.”

She said she was most impressed with tenor Hong Ming’s song, “Rest in Knowing.” It captured her attention so completely that she had no other thoughts during his performance.

Director of Henan Opera: Splendid

Wei Kuo-tai, Director of the Henan Opera of Taiwan Kuoguang Performing Company, said after the first half of the show, “Fantastic, truly splendid! Their artistic skills are wonderful. I was really moved! We rarely see such large scale performances in Taiwan. They are very dedicated to their performance and emitted truth, kindness, and grace. I am really touched!”

He was impressed with the combination of dancing and Chinese drama and thought that this artistic feast would inspire audiences. He said the performers were exceptional in how well they danced with the accompanying music.

In 1979, Mr. Wei joined the army and held important posts in the Flying Horse Henan Opera Performing Company. In 1996, he led the performing company and performed in Europe and America.

Kuomintang Commander: Best show in sixty years

Kang Ching-wen, army commander and member of the Huangkuohsing Branch of the Kuomintang, said the show reminded him of his hometown in Shandong Province. In his eyes, it was the best show he had ever seen since 1949, when he followed the government to Taiwan.

He said, “My hometown is in Shandong. The scenery in backdrops seemed to be from my hometown. There were farms, mountains, and brooks, just like a Chinese painting. I really enjoyed it. ‘The Loyalty of Yue Fei’ and ‘Lady of the Moon’ are Chinese traditional stories. Current performances in Taiwan rarely portray such stories. The Divine Performing Arts created many memorable pictures.”

Army Chief Officer: Truly outstanding

Chu Hsiao-chi, a chief officer in the army, said, “Truly outstanding!”

Mr. Chu indicated that the colors implied kindness and the essence of Chinese culture. Each performance in the show touched him. “‘The Loyalty of Yue Fei,’ ‘Lady of the Moon,’ and the songs awaken people’s kindness.”

The show supplied answers for his long-sought questions. He hopes that the show will continue and will come again next year.

Director of Tianyun Dancing Company: Creative backdrop design

Yang Chi-Chiang, Director of the 15-year-old Tianyun Dance Company, commended the creative multimedia backdrops.

He thought that the portrayal of current true-to-life stories should be respected, “The persecution of Falun Gong in China–and not only Falun Gong, personal relations, and personal views are topics often avoided. There should be less violence [in society]. I think it is important that there be an exchange of ideas and respect between people.”

Arts Association Director: Totally refreshing

Chang Yun-tong, Director of Guanyin Mountain International Art Exchange Association, said that the power and grace of the performance was as refreshing as a spring breeze.

Director of the Woman’s Consulting Board Executive Council: The female Performers of the Chinese Spectacular are majestic women

Cheng Ru-yi, Director of the Woman Consulting Board Executive Council, said after the show, “Very successful. It is worth being spread widely. The female performers on stage are majestic women. They perform with body language. It is very beautiful.”

She said, “All the performers expressed truth from bottom of their heart. In life, what are truth, compassion, and tolerance? It makes us think. Especially the dance, ‘The Power of Awareness;’ it described the persecution of Falun Gong in China. Though I am not a Falun Gong practitioner, I had the same feeling.”

Henan Opera Actress: Learn from the Divine Performing Arts

Hsieh Wen-Chi, an actress with the Kuoguang Henan Opera Performing Company, indicated that the coordination between the performers, backdrops, and music was very precise. She said, “We traditional drama players do not have many dancing gestures. We need to learn from Divine Performing Arts.”

She said, “From the performance ‘The Risen Lotus Flower,’ I felt the purpose of the program was to lead people to kindness. The lady practitioner was beaten to death by the police for safeguarding her own belief. I felt sad but was moved after seeing she succeeded in cultivation to reach consummation.”

By Jie En from London UK

(Clearwisdom.net) From February 22 to 24 2008, Divine Performing Arts on Tour performed 4 shows in Royal Festival Hall in London.

Lucas, a software programmer from Edinburgh, came to the show with three friends. Lucas said he had seen a performance by a marching band from Mainland China, but could see that the performance was controversial, as he could feel the Chinese Communist Party propaganda through the performance. He said that the Divine Performing Arts show was different because it was truly beautiful and flawless. It was worth the trip from Edinburgh to London (an 8 hour drive).

 "This Evening's Show is Priceless!"

At 10:15 p.m. on January 31st, 2008, the second Chinese New Year Splendor show concluded at New York's Radio City Music Hall. The theater was filled with a happy atmosphere. A reporter found Mr. John Kung's family in the front row, with excitement and satisfaction written all over their faces.

Mr. John Kung's family

This is a typical east meets west family. Mr. Kung is from the Orient. When the reporter asked him where is he was from, he answered, "I am from Shanghai." Mr. Kung came to America thirty years ago, and now works for the New York State Government. His wife (Diana Kung) is Caucasian and does volunteer work with her church. Their daughter is 18 years old, a college student. Mrs. Kung told the reporter that they attended the Holiday Wonders show at the Beacon Theatre last Christmas season, and decided to see the Chinese New Year Splendor after experiencing that gorgeous performance.

When asked how they felt about the Splendor show, they answered unanimously in Chinese, "Very good! Very good!" Mr. Kung laughed and said, "We are very proud to be Chinese! The show has depicted true Chinese history and culture. It is very inspiring!

Mrs. Kung added seriously, "This is a very valuable evening show. No, it's a priceless evening show! It is influencing and helping the whole world now."

Mr. Kung said that his favorite part was the stories behind the dances as well as the profound songs, as the meanings were more important than the form they took. He said, "I love the three values Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance. If people could just practice and follow those characters, all of the world's problems would be solved!"

When asked what the social impact of this show was, Mr. Kung turned to his daughter. She thought for a moment and said, "I think this show is awakening society's conscience and calling for people to pay attention to what is happening in mainland China. I read some flyers that the Falun Gong practitioners passed away due to the persecution, and the unspeakable brutality is a shame to humankind!"

Mr. Kung then continued, "The two programs about the persecution of Falun Gong were very moving! I think many people still don't know anything about this persecution. This show is doing a great job. They are totally credible as well because I know the Communist Party never emphasized justice, ethics, or belief in a higher being. This show is a great way of helping others to think differently!

San Antonio, Texas: March on Martin Luther King Jr. Day (Photos)

By a Falun Dafa practitioner in San Antonio

(Clearwisdom.net) On Monday, January 21, 2008, Falun Dafa practitioners from San Antonio unfurled the banner, "Falun Dafa Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance" helping to mark the 21st anniversary of San Antonio's Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. March and Commemoration.

The San Antonio MLK March is considered the largest march in the country aimed at remembering and continuing the legacy of Dr. King. The three-mile march began at the Eastside Boys & Girls Club at 3500 MLK Drive (MLK Freedom Bridge) at 10:00 a.m. on January 21. The march ended at Pittman-Sullivan Park located at 1101 Iowa, where the commemorative program was held.

Falun Dafa fliers were handed out to the people, and everyone was glad to receive the information. Several people came through the crowd to inquire about the practice. It was a wonderful opportunity for the people of San Antonio to learn about Falun Dafa and the Chinese Communist Party's ongoing persecution of the practice in China.
